This is a Bellieni-Ritter Extra-Plat 9x12 camera in good overall condition. It is fitted with a Carl-Zeiss Jena 13.5cm f/4.5 tessar lens and a F. Deckel Munchen Compur shutter with speeds from 1 sec to 1/200th sec.

I gather the camera dates from the 1920s since it's post-merger with Ritter -- perhaps that's why it has a newer, nicer lens and shutter than many examples. Cosmetics are respectable for a camera that's designed to expose glass frickin'plates. The front of the lens is very nice, no scratches.

What I can see of the rear element looks good too. In between is another matter. There is definitely some gunk in there, maybe fungus, haze, definitely dust.

I would rate it pretty well for a lens that's around a century old, but it's certainly not pristine. The shutter works at all speeds plus B, but I can't get T mode to work -- the selector won't move all the way there. The faster shutter speeds are definitely faster than the slower ones, and nothing sticks. The aperture selector moves smoothly across the range. The helical is smooth but stiff throughout the range.

The frame that extends and retracts the bellows feels nice and tight, no give, no looseness, no roughness. Both movements (horizontal and vertical) work. Bellows seem to be (amazingly, astoundingly) light tight, though I can't claim this is film tested. They are supposedly made of Russian leather, according to an old catalog I found online.

The ground glass is a bit beat up but it works. The shade hood is torn on the upper right corner. The delightful original Zeiss lens cap, which still snugs on perfectly. A leather case, battered but serviceable. L'item "Bellieni Extra-Plat 9 x 12 camera with Zeiss 13.5cm f/4.5 lens, Compur shutter" est en vente depuis le mercredi 16 janvier 2019.
